Discovering Our Purpose

There is an Arabic proverb about a father giving advice to his son who is about to leave home to find his way in the world.

His father said, “My son, in this world you will meet different people. The first people you will meet don’t know, and they do not know that they don’t know, these people are ignorant, avoid them.

Then you will meet those who don’t know, and they know that they don’t know. These people are searching, so help them find their way.

At last, you will meet those who know, and they know that they know, follow them for they are wise.”

The question I would pose to you is which type of person are you? The first primary need of every human born into this world is the need to know his or her purpose. You see a life without the knowledge of one’s purpose is a destiny to never be fulfilled. Purpose is a driving need of the human heart. Yet for all our advancements in science, industry and technology this remains a largely undiscovered reality in the life of most people. No matter how much we acquire of this worlds goods nothing will ever satisfy the longing of the human heart apart from one’s discovered, and then fulfilled purpose in life.

You were created by Almighty God. As elementary as this may sound, it is an actually a foundational truth that we must embrace wholeheartedly.

(Psalms 100:2-3 NKJV)  Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing. {3} Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

The human heart was created with a need to worship, and it will either worship its true creator, or it will worship a creator of its own making, but it will worship someone or something.

While many see the worship of carved images as ignorant superstitions, they unknowingly have carved an image just as real in their own minds called the god of self. In this religion man is god, and sets his own moral code. Since no one is higher than man, he vainly imagines that he is capable of running things his way. Unfortunately because the man who lives apart from the purposes of his Creator is corrupt, he will naturally spiral downward.

This self ordained religion comes complete with its own set of doctrines and dogmas, all designed to keep the faithful oblivious to the reality of their own blinded condition.

The foundational doctrine of the religion of self worship is evolution. This dogma is the belief that all that exists came from nothing, has no purpose for existence, and is eventually heading toward nothing more than the temporal existence of this physical life.

While evolution has about as much scientific credibility as belief in the tooth fairy it is enshrined as a holy relic in the church of naturalism, bringing about swift retribution upon any who would dare to desecrate its temple.

Why must such heed and protection be given to this belief you may ask? For this simple fact, take away man’s evolution from nothing and you are left with one evident conclusion. We were created for a purpose, and if this is true, we need to seek our Creator to find His purpose for our lives.

(Ecclesiastes 12:12-13 NLT)  But, my child, be warned: There is no end of opinions ready to be expressed. Studying them can go on forever and become very exhausting! {13} Here is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is the duty of every person.
